Whole Year Collaboration

Year 7 and all Art staff collaborated upon a ground installation based upon ‘Field’ by Antony Gormley. The project was linked to RE and Catholic Citizenship and was completed just before Easter. The project allowed students to use their faith in action by taking responsibility for their own environment and make a positive contribution towards improving it. Students learned the value of art with particular reference to the way in which it can be displayed. Student artists designed and created their own clay crucifix which reflected European designs. Our young artists worked on an individual basis and their designs contributed to the development of a whole year collaborative art piece. After the clay work was glazed and fired, students worked in small teams in order to position their crucifixes into concrete.
