Community Cohesion Policy

1.St Francis of Assisi CTC, Streetly Sports College, Aldridge Science College and Barr Beacon Language College are part of the East Collaborative Visual Arts Network which promotes a Creative, Collaborative Community across three CAPs – Aldridge and Streetly and Pheasey.

2.All schools work in collaboration to create Art projects which aim to promote the visual Arts and celebrate cultural diversity within their school communities. Schools recognise and raise the aspirations of young people and encourage their ambition and drive which supports the ECM agenda and reflects the WCYPP – Increase the % of 15 year olds in schools achieving 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grades A*-G, Increase the % who enjoy school and Increase the % of young people engaged in positive activities.

3.Students engage with their peers from different schools which supports extended pastoral exchange and the cultural, economic and faith based differences. This promotes equality and community cohesion in a safe and healthy environment between schools, breaking down rivalry and negative attitudes between students from the different schools.

4.Students develop their teamwork and leadership skills when working collaboratively on projects.

5.Schools actively participate in the creation of an online website www.ecam.org.uk which celebrates achievement, promotes Extended Learning Beyond the Classroom, offers opportunities for Extended Student Voice through the commentary of others art work and the artwork created by professionals, supports ICT through a digital classroom, Invites the global community to view and comment on the networks productivity, showcases students /art teachers artwork and articles to the global community, Parents for Learning, Promotes CPD to art teachers and celebrates the students and schools achievements in the Visual arts.

6.The Collaborative contributes to an arts magazine which supports Contemporary Art Practices, and mirrors the ethic of the website where an online version can be viewed.

7.The network meets once a term to share Best Practice and ideas, techniques and processes, discuss the art curriculum, plan collaborative projects and website developments.

8.Students are encouraged to take responsibility for aspects of ECAM which is reviewed at network meetings.
